Design News: Pantone’s Fashion Color Report Spring 2015
We might be right in the middle of winter, but fashion waits for no one. Since the fashion industry is always a season ahead, the “It colors” for spring 2015 have already been announced. Pantone released their top colors for spring and we can’t wait to see how clothing retailers incorporate them into their pieces for the coming season. According to Pantone, “This season there is a move toward the cooler and softer side of the color spectrum. An eclectic, ethereal mix of understated brights, pale pastels and nature-like neutrals take center stage as designers draw from daydreams of simpler times.” Here’s the good news, unlike fashion, you don’t have to wait until spring to incorporate these colors into your home. Here are some ways you can bring spring’s top color choices into your home décor today!
Cooler Tones
Cooler, softer colors with subtle warm tones will be popular this spring. Pantone’s Aquamarine, Scuba Blue, Lucite Green, Glacier Gray, Dusk Blue, Lavender Herb and Titanium were chosen for spring 2015’s palette. The colors are serene and peaceful and will work in a variety of spaces in your home. Pair the colors with neutral carpet is soft grays or beiges for a clean and polished look. Glacier Gray and Titanium would make excellent neutral wall colors or carpet colors! Dusk Blue would look lovely in a bedroom or bathroom. Your options are endless with this spring’s cooler color palette.
Warmer Hues
Pantone has named this color collection “en plein air,” taking cue from nature rather than being reinvented or mechanically manipulated. The warmer colors in this collection look like they were pulled right from a gorgeous sunset. Pantone’s Toasted Almond, Strawberry Ice, Tangerine, Custard and Marsala make up the warmer hues in the collection. These colors will look beautiful in your living room, den or kitchen. Toasted Almond and Marsala would look lovely in various styles of carpet or tile flooring. If you gravitate towards warmer colors, you can easily accent your home with these hues. Table cloths, bed linens and towels would look beautiful in Custard, Tangerine or Strawberry Ice. Any of these Pantone colors will create a rich and inviting atmosphere in your home.
Natural Shades
Rounding out the final few colors in Pantone’s Fashion Report are some you might see in your own backyard. Treetop, Woodbine and Sandstone bring out the gorgeous greens and browns you would notice if you were overlooking Central Park in the spring. Treetop and Woodbine are two exquisite shades of green that would look spectacular on the walls of any room in your house. Treetop would also be a very attractive color choice for carpet in your game room or basement. Sandstone is the perfect shade for tile in your bathroom or outdoor patio.
