Meet Senior Project Manager Wes Haining
At Tish Flooring our staff is made up of fun, friendly and knowledgeable people who love what they do. We pride ourselves on hiring the best people in the business to work with our customers. They enjoy coming into work each day and helping out anywhere they can. Meet Wes Haining, a ten-year veteran Project Manager at Tish!
Q: What is your position at Tish Flooring and what are some of your day-to-day responsibilities?
“I’m a Project Manager at Tish Flooring. I go out to our customers’ homes and I’m often their first point of contact with Tish – so I’m the first up close and personal impression they have of our company. Now, after all of these years at Tish, sometimes customers contact me directly and other times they will find me through the office. My first responsibility is to gain an understanding of their needs. Once we have talked for a bit and I have a grasp of their objectives and ideas, I help with color consultation, design concepts, durability and prices. I manage their project from start to finish. I also follow up with them about their experience working with us. I like to make sure the customer is left feeling great and satisfied with the work we did – and with me professionally. I’m pretty much front and center throughout the process.”
Q: How long have you worked at Tish Flooring?
“I have worked for Tish Flooring for 10 years. I started out working in the floor covering industry in 1982. I actually met Fred when I was working as a territory rep for a flooring manufacturer. We connected and I really respected the way Fred ran his business so I knew I couldn’t miss the opportunity to work with him. I’m glad really glad that I did.”
Q: What is an average day like for you?
“I have to be honest, sometimes it’s controlled chaos. This company is extremely successful and at times it feels like I am stretched pretty thin. But there’s never a dull moment. At any given time I’m ordering in special samples for our clients, measuring the home of a prospective customer, talking through an installation question with one of our service crews, or attending a product training session. I’m always scheduling new appointments, doing in-office work, getting products ordered and helping out anywhere I can.”
Q: What’s the best part of your workday?
“Getting to interact with our customers is the best part of my day. I love to see the customer’s reaction once the final product is complete. I also like to see a project come together. It’s nice to see how everyone’s hard work comes together to make the customer happy, not just with Tish, but with their finished project. It really is gratifying.”
Q: What’s the most stressful part of your workday?
“Well the business covers a large geographic area so sometimes just getting from Point A to Point B while still getting work done can be stressful. I wish I just had a traveling assistant with me to answer emails and take phone calls. It sounds crazy, but we are just that busy.”
Q: Why should people choose Tish Flooring?
“Having been in the industry as long as I have, I have noticed that small businesses in general accept defeat quite quickly. Because of that they don’t produce a good product. From the first day I started working with Fred he made sure I understood that the customer is always number one, no matter what. Problems do happen and you have to deal with the issues that pop up from time to time, but the company stands there with you and pulls in the resources to get the job done right. We will do anything in our power to make sure the job gets done, and it’s done right.”
