Employee Spotlight: Erik Purvis

Meet Tish

Flooring’s newest employee, Operations Manager Erik Purvis. While you may not see him on the sales floor, if things are running smoothly, it’s most likely due to Erik.

“I’ve been in flooring since November 1997 when I first moved to Indiana,” said Erik, coming to Tish with over 17 years of experience in the flooring industry. He had previously worked as a controller and had his hand in operations, accounting and IT.

His position is, as he puts it, “Making sure that the daily flow of operational activities is efficient as possible.” A typical day for Erik starts with the daily load-out, making sure that installers are clear on the details of each job, have the proper supplies and know where to go. If installers have any issues on the road, Erik will step in to help them. Ultimately, Erik’s role will involve improving customers’ in-home/day-of-installation experience and implementing processes to increase warehousing, scheduling, and operational efficiencies. First on the agenda, however, is helping Tish transition to a fully-automated operating system with floor covering business management software called RFMS. RFMS is used nationally and internationally and is one of the best systems on the market for flooring companies.

When he’s not working hard at Tish, Erik is an avid reader, soccer coach and hiker. When asked why he likes working for Tish, he said that he really enjoyed working with the store’s installers as well as helping customers to have pleasant interactions with Tish, “We’re a small business that truly does care about what we’re doing. No one’s a number to us, we want each customer to have a great experience with Tish Flooring and be 100% happy with their carpeting, laminate or hardwood flooring.”
